Six Month Lump

Six months sober and all I get is this lump in my bed? God does work in mysterious ways. I’m not sure what his plan for me is, but I’m glad he sent me Darla V.

I had plans Saturday night to see Da Vinci Code, but my date cancelled at the last moment sighting a friend needed counseling. I got the call while trying to help my ex-wife June W. purchase a laptop on eBay. Feeling sad about not having anything to do, I asked June if she’d spend the evening with me. She declined.

However, at the last minute, Darla called and asked to come over. She wanted to discuss a business proposition. I asked her earlier if she’d be photographer’s grip at weddings. I showed her my portfolio and she was impressed.

We ended up falling asleep in each other’s arms. I was a complete gentleman, making her dinner, then breakfast. It was very sweet. I had a lot of fun with her and I guess she did too, because she came over the next night, not intending to spend the night again, but we both were so comfortable, we fell asleep in each other’s arms again.

So now I guess I owe you the entire story behind Darla V. I’ll save that for another post. Other than my ex-wife June, Darla is the first lady friend to visit my new apartment and the only one to sleep over.

I feel so guilty that I didn’t make a meeting over the weekend, haven’t spoken to my sponsor. Suffice to say, I have stayed sober for six months! This is my first six months sober.

I guess lumps are a hazard of having your own place.

Congratulations on a huge milestone, WW. I've been following your site for a while now, encouraged that it CAN work. Just waiting until it clicks for my husband.

When it finally happened for you... what happened?

6 months for me too (and 11 days, 20 hours...). All I have is a lump in my head!

Seriously, a big well done to you, and thank you for sharing your site with the world - it's great. It's things like this that are keeping me going, only found after I googled "6 months sober" and landed here.

We mustn't let the boredom get to us... This is serenity, brother.
